Institutional Note: Academic Disclaimer: Grading standards and conversions vary across institutions and credential evaluators.
Scale: Unweighted 4.0 (A=4.0, A-=3.7, B+=3.3…). P/NP, W, I grades are excluded. GPA = Σ(grade point × credits) / Σ credits. Cumulative = (prior QP + current QP) / (prior credits + current credits).
How to use
- 1Enter your current cumulative GPA and the total credits you have completed so far.
- 2Add this term's courses with their letter grades and credit hours.
- 3Your combined cumulative GPA updates instantly — it re-weights all courses together rather than averaging term GPAs.
Formula
Cumulative GPA = (prior QP + current QP) / (prior credits + current credits)Convert your prior cumulative GPA to quality points: prior QP = prior GPA × prior credits. Add the quality points earned this term, then divide by the combined total credits. This correctly weights each course by its credit value.
Examples
Prior GPA 3.2 over 45 credits + term grades A (3cr), B+ (3cr), A- (4cr)
Prior QP = 144.0. Term QP = 12.0 + 9.9 + 14.8 = 36.7. (144.0 + 36.7) ÷ (45 + 10).
