Formula

Cumulative GPA = (prior QP + current QP) / (prior credits + current credits)

Convert your prior cumulative GPA to quality points: prior QP = prior GPA × prior credits. Add the quality points earned this term, then divide by the combined total credits. This correctly weights each course by its credit value.

Why isn't cumulative GPA the average of my semester GPAs?
Because semesters may have different credit totals. Each course is weighted by credits, so a 4.0 semester with more credits pulls the average more than one with fewer credits.
How do I find my current cumulative GPA?
Check your unofficial transcript or your school's student portal. You need both the GPA and total completed credits.
