GPA Calculator

Calculate your GPA on a 4.0 or weighted 5.0 scale. Supports semester, cumulative and target GPA planning.

50+ calculators — architecture ready for localization

Every calculator uses its own engine (gpa, conversions, planning, country, grade-tools) — independently testable, separate from UI and SEO. China and UF remain excluded.

How to use

  1. 1Choose your scale: 4.0 unweighted or 5.0 weighted (Honors +0.5, AP/IB +1.0).
  2. 2Add courses with grade (A–F) and credit hours. Use Honors/AP type when weighted.
  3. 3See semester GPA, total quality points and credits instantly. Switch to Cumulative to add prior GPA.

Formula

GPA = Σ (grade point × credits) / Σ credits

Each course contributes quality points = grade point × credits. Weighted GPA adds honors/AP bonuses before averaging. Cumulative GPA = (prior QP + current QP) / (prior credits + current credits).

Examples

Semester GPA — A (3cr), B+ (3cr), B (4cr)

QP: 12 + 9.9 + 12 = 33.9, Credits 10 → 3.39

GPA 3.39 • 33.9 QP / 10cr

Weighted — A Honors (3cr) + A AP (3cr) + B Standard (3cr)

Honors 4.5 + AP 5.0 + 3.0 → 37.5 / 9 = 4.17

Weighted GPA 4.17

Frequently asked questions

What is a good GPA?
Unweighted: 3.0 is B, 3.5+ is strong for many colleges. Weighted GPAs can exceed 4.0 due to honors/AP bonuses.
Do P/NP or W grades count?
No — Pass/No-Pass, Withdrawn, Incomplete and Audit grades are excluded from GPA. Only letter grades with credits count.
How is cumulative GPA different?
Cumulative combines prior totals with current term. It is not the average of semester GPAs — you must weight by credits.
