Institutional Note: Academic Disclaimer: Grading standards and conversions vary across institutions and credential evaluators.
Scale: Unweighted 4.0 (A=4.0, A-=3.7, B+=3.3…). P/NP, W, I grades are excluded. GPA = Σ(grade point × credits) / Σ credits.
How to use
- 1Enter each course name, select the letter grade (A+ through F), and assign its credit hours.
- 2Pass (P), Withdrawal (W), Incomplete (I) and Audit grades are excluded — only letter grades with credits count.
- 3Your semester GPA calculates instantly as quality points divided by total credits. Add prior GPA and credits in Cumulative mode for your overall GPA.
Formula
GPA = Σ (grade point × credits) / Σ creditsEach letter grade converts to a grade point on the 4.0 scale (A+ = 4.0, A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, …, F = 0.0). Multiply each grade point by the course credits to get quality points, sum all quality points, and divide by total credits. Pass/No-Pass and Withdrawn grades are excluded from the calculation.
Examples
Three courses: A (3cr), B+ (3cr), B (4cr)
Quality points: 4.0×3 = 12.0, 3.3×3 = 9.9, 3.0×4 = 12.0 → total 33.9 QP ÷ 10 credits.
GPA 3.39
Five courses with mixed grades
A- (3cr) + B+ (4cr) + A (3cr) + C+ (3cr) + B (3cr) → 11.1 + 13.2 + 12.0 + 6.9 + 9.0 = 52.2 QP ÷ 16 credits.
